NW Thunder Baseball

Mount Kisco Baseball, in partnership with Bedford Hills/Katonah Little League,

forms NW Thunder Baseball.

Mount Kisco Baseball travel baseball teams are called the Northern Westchester Thunder.  MKB and BHKLL co-sponsor this program and organize teams for all ages, beginning at 8U through at least 13U.  The NW Thunder teams participate in the Greater Hudson Valley Baseball (GHVBL) travel league. GHVBL baseball is highly competitive - it requires a serious commitment on the part of both the child and parent.

All NW Thunder players who are Little League eligible (generally ages 12 and under), MUST also play in MKB or BHKLL’s spring in-house recreation leagues.

CommitmentIf your child is chosen for a team, we anticipate him / her playing approximately 15 - 20 games during the summer and 10 - 12 games during the fall. While it is not required to play both seasons, most players do.  In addition to the scheduled games, there will be a minimum of one weekly practice. Please consider this commitment as your son or daughter is being considered for the team.

Teams will be selected after an open tryout.  Once teams are selected, there will be an optional, but highly recommended, multi-week winter clinic beginning in February. Outdoor practices will begin in April and run concurrently with our spring league.  Summer games take place from mid June thru late July / early August. The fall season begins in early September and runs until mid-late October.

Tryouts: Tryouts for the Summer and Fall travel teams are scheduled to be held in  October. Specific times and locations will be announced and will be organized by age group.  Your child's age will be determined by how old he/she is on May 1, 2022.   Both MKB and BHKLL players will be evaluated by the travel teams coaching staffs.  There are NO pre-determined roster positions on these teams, including returning travel players.  Players for each team will be chosen based on their baseball skills and ability. Beyond the commitment expected, there are often questions about playing time and position play. While everyone gets to play, equal playing time is not guaranteed.  The coaches have discretion over the lineup and substitution of players.

Fees: There is no fee for the tryout, but the estimated travel cost per player is $325-450 for summer league play, $200 - $250 for the fall league.  The optional winter clinic will be a separate cost.  The program costs include league and umpire fees, baseballs, uniforms, field maintenance and utilities.

TO REGISTER FOR THE TRYOUT, please send an email to: nwthunderbaseball1@gmail.com...include the player's name, date of birth.  Thank you.
